The GSR 18V-21 is a cordless drill manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushed electric motor that is powered by a 18 volt battery.

Bosch refers to this drill as an reliable entry level machine for professional use.

Exterior

The machine has dark blue plastic housing with black rubberized parts near the handle and red accents.

On the bottom of the handle a 18 volt battery attaches by sliding in from the front. Above the battery is a small white LED that illuminates the working area.

On front of the handle is a red trigger switch. Above it is a red push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

The motor housing has some diagonal ventilation slits near the back and a slotted black round cover that provides access to the motor brushes on each side. On top of the housing is a red gear selector switch.

In front of the motor housing is a black clutch setting ring with 20 settings plus a drill setting where the clutch is disabled. At the front is a black plastic chuck with a maximum opening of 13 mm.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The hammer, drill or screwing mode is selected by turning the ring behind it. The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring directly behind the chuck. The clutch is only active in the screwing mode.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body.
