The GSB 18V-55 is a cordless hammer drill manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushless electric motor that is powered by a 18 volt battery.

According to Bosch this machine is a powerful entry level drill driver suited for professional use.

On Bosch UK's website the description mentions a maximum RPM of 1750 but the specifications on the same page and user manual state 1800. The specifications for masonry also differ in the text where 10 mm is mentioned and specifications which list 13 mm.

Exterior

The machine has dark blue plastic housing with black rubberized parts and red accents.

On the bottom of the handle a 18 volt battery attaches by sliding in from the front.

A plastic bit holder for four bits and a metal belt clip can be attached on the left and right side. Above the battery is a white LED that illuminates the working area.

On front of the handle is a red trigger switch. Above it is a red push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

On top of the housing is a red gear selector switch.

In front of the motor housing is a black mode selector ring with a screw, drill and hammer setting. In front of that is a black clutch setting ring with 20 settings. At the front is a black metal chuck with a maximum opening of 13 mm.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The hammer, drill or screwing mode is selected by turning the ring behind it. The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring directly behind the chuck. The clutch is only active in the screwing mode.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body.
