18V Cordless Drilling & fastening Impact driver

The GDR 18V-160 is a cordless impact driver manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

Bosch classifies this as an entry level impact driver. Unlike most other more powerful impact drivers that have brushless motors this one has a brushed electric motor that is powered by a 18 volt battery.

With a maximum torque of 160 Nm for tightening this machine is suitable for loosening and tightening nuts and bolts with threads of M6 up to M14.

Exterior

The tool has a blue plastic housing with some black rubber on the front of the handle and all along the back of the handle top the top of the motor housing. The handle is placed in the middle under the motor for better tool balance.

The battery slides in from the front under the handle and there is an optional metal belt hook attached to the side with a screw.

On the front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a push button to revser the turing direction one each side. In front of that is a small white LED that illuminates the working area. The LED will automatically turn on.

In front of the motor housing is a black hammer case that is attached to the motor housing with four forward facing screws.

At the very front there is the 1/4" hex bit holder with a black ribbed sleeve that can be puled to release the bit.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.
