GDX 18V-200 C impact driver/wrench

18V Cordless Drilling & fastening Impact wrench Impact driver

The GDX 18V-200 C is a cordless impact wrench manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushless electric motor that is powered by a 18 volt battery.

A unique feature of this machine is that inside the 1/2" square drive is a 1/4" hex bit holder. This allows for both 1/4" hex bits and 1/2" socket wrenches to be used on the machine without needing any adapters. For this reason this machine is classified as both an impact wrench and impact driver here.

With a maximum torque of 200 Nm for tightening this machine is suitable for loosening and tightening nuts and bolts with threads of M6 up to M16 according to the data sheet and user manual. The product page on the Bosch UK website mentions M14 as the maximum diameter.

Exterior

The tool has a blue plastic housing with black rubber mostly around the handle and along the back and the rear of the top side. The handle is placed in the middle under the motor for better tool balance.

The battery slides in from the front under the handle and there is an optional metal belt hook attached to the side with a screw.

At the back there is the ability to attach an optional wrist strap to catch the machine if it would fall.

At the bottom of the handle is a white LED that illuminates the working area. The LED will automatically turn on. Around the LED are some membrane buttons with indicator LEDs to change the work mode.

In front of the motor housing is an aluminum hammer case and tapers towards the front where it is covered in black rubber.

At the front there is a round red ribbed sleeve that can be pulled to release a 1/4" bit. In front of that is the 1/2" square drive on which sockets can be attached and 1/4" bits can be inserted. The driver has a friction ring and pin detent to prevent sockets from falling off.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

On the bottom of the handle there is a membrane button to cycle though the following power mode. The lower settings can be used on smaller screw diameters and prevent over tightening or breaking fasteners.

  1. 130 Nm, 1100 RPM, 2300 BPM
  2. 160 Nm, 2300 RPM, 3400 BPM
  3. 210 Nm, 3400 RPM, 4000 BPM

On the right side there is a membrane button to toggle the work light on and off.

Bluetooth connectivity

The machine has a built-in wireless communication module in the handle that uses Bluetooth to connect to the Bosch Toolbox app on a smartphone to adjust some settings.

The module is located behind a round over on the right side of the handle (not visible in picture). The cover can be opened by twisting it with a coin. The module can be removed so that the machine can also be used in environments where wireless communications are restricted.
