GBH 18V-26 F rotary hammer
The GBH 18V-26 F is a cordless rotary hammer manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.
The machine has a brushless electric motor powered by a 18 volt battery.
According to Bosch the maximum diameter for drilling in concrete is 26 mm, but the optimal range for this machine is 8 to 16 mm.
The GBH 18V-26 F is a variant of the GBH 18V-26 but the F at the end of the model name indicates that this machine has a quick change detachable chuck. An SDS Plus chuck and keyless clamping chuck are included.
Bosch does not specify the weight of this machine on their UK website.
Exterior
The machine has a blue plastic body with black parts and the controls have red accents. The machine has a D-shaped handle placed behind the motor. It is connected through a flexible joint to reduce vibrations being transferred from the machine body to the handle.
Above the handle is a red switch to reverse the turning direction. On front of the handle is a large red trigger switch that can be pressed down with two fingers.
The 18 volt battery is inserted from behind and is placed under the handle on the bottom of the machine. At the front is a white LED that is angled upwards to illuminate the working area.
Above that is the motor housing with various ventilation holes on the sides and the Bosch logo and model name.
Towards the top on the front is a black gearbox with a mode dial on the left side to select the work mode. In front of that is a collar with an auxiliary handle and a depth gauge.
At the very front is an SDS Plus chuck in which drills or chisels are inserted.
Operation
The machine is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The red toggle button above the handle can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.
The black knob on the left side is used to select the work mode. The knob has four settings:
- Drilling for materials like soft masonry, wood and metal.
- Drilling plus hammering for hard masonry like concrete.
- Chuck adjustment mode allows the chuck to be rotated into another position to adjust the angle of a chisel.
- Hammer only for chiseling and demolition.
Safety
The machine has built in vibration reduction feature to reduce operator fatigue and two features that Bosch calls kickback control and electronic precision control.
Dust extraction
An optional dust extraction unit with model name GDE 18V-16 with built in HEPA filter can be attached to the machine. It is sometimes sold together in a bundle with the machine.
