GBA 36V 4.0 Ah battery

The GBA 36V 4.0 Ah is a battery pack for the Bosch Professional 36V battery system.

In Noth America it is called BAT838 36V Lithium-Ion 4.0 Ah FatPack Battery.

The battery contains twenty 18650 cells with a voltage of 3.6 volt and a capacity of 2.0 Ah each placed in two series of ten to produce 36 volts.

The battery pack is has double the capacity and weight as the GBA 36V 2.0 Ah battery which uses the same cells, but only half the amount.

The GBA 36V 6.0 Ah has the same weight and size but has 50% more capacity because it contains 3.0 Ah cells.

Exterior

The battery had a black plastic case with shaped like a rectangle with rounded edges. On the front are ventilation holes to allow the cells inside dissipate heat better.

Above that is a battery charge indicator consisting out of three green LEDs with a membrane button to the left of it to activate it and an overload indicator next to it.

The sides of the battery back show the Bosch logo, voltage and capacity and some red horizontal lines that also act as cooling fins.

The electrical contacts are on top of the battery pack near the back and recessed to reduce the chance of an accidental short circuit.
