WEP 15-150 Quick 150mm paddle switch angle grinder

Angle grinder Corded electric tools Grinding

The WEP 15-150 Quick is a corded electric angle grinder for 150 mm discs manufactured by Metabo.

The machine is activated using a black paddle switch the bottom of the body. This is a so called "dead man" switch that requires the operator to keep holding it down to keep the machine running. For additional saftety The machine will not turn on if the switch is pressed while the power is being connected. The switch has to be released and pressed again.

The plastic motor housing is Metabo's signature green color with an aluminium head.

The head has a a red spindle lock button on top and a vibration dampening side handle can be attached on either side. Holes blow air that was sucked in from the back to cool the motor.

The disc guard can fit up to 150 mm discs and can be rotated and locked into place without any tools.

Because this machine is part of Metabo's "quick" product range it has a feature that speeds up working with it. In this case the disc can be replaced without needing any tools, unlike most other angle grinders. To Replace the disc the machine has to be powered on, and turned off. While the disc is still spinning the spindle lock button has to be pressed down. The sudden stop will loosen the special nut enough so that it can be further unscrewed by hand.

The machine has an electronic soft start feature to prevent kick back when starting the machine. The machine has a vibration reduction system that Metabo calls an "auto balancer" that reduced vibrations allowing the operator to work longer without fatigue and also slows down wear on the machine and disc.

The RPM is electronically controlled meaning that the machine will increase the power output when more pressure is applied to prevent the RPM from dropping.

The motor is part of Metabo's "Marathon" range and is air cooled to allow it to run for long periods of time without overheating. Metabo uses a patented dust protection system to prevent dust from being sucked in and damaging the motor.
