6276-21 barrel grip jig saw

Corded electric tools Jig saw Sawing

The 6276-21 is a corded barrel grip jig saw manufactured by Milwaukee.

The machine is powered by a 682 watt brushed motor from an electrical outlet.

Milwaukee calls this model an "Body grip orbital jig saw" because there is no bow handle and has three orbital settings for faster (but rougher) cutting in wood.

Milwaukee does not specify the maximum cutting depth for any materials like other manufacturers usually do. But with a sufficiently long saw blade and enough patience any jig saw can cut the same depth, the only difference is the speed and accuracy.

Exterior

The machine has a red plastic body with a bulge at the front. The operator can place one hand around the body and one optionally hand on the bulge for better control.

The motor housing has some horizontal ventilation slits near the the back.

On the front of the machine is made out of aluminum and attached to a titlable aluminium base. The base has a dust chute that can be connected it to a vacuum with an optional adapter.

On the bottom of the base is a removable black plastic shoe that protects the work piece against scratches. At the front of the base a anti splinter guard can be inserted to reduce splinters. It has to be removed when making bevel cuts.

Operation

The machine is activated by sliding black switch on the top of the body forward. The maximum speed can be set with a speed control dial on the back of the body.

Underneath the body is a large black lever that can be loosened to move the base backward or forward and to change the angle of the base up to 45º left or right. There are preset for 0, 15, 30 and 45º.

On the front of the machine is a lever to eject the saw blade without any tools.

On the side there is an orbital action selector switch with four settings for making faster, but rougher cuts in wood.
