2645-20 M18 bow handle jig saw

Cordless Jig saw M18 Sawing

The 2645-20 is a cordless jig bow handle jig saw manufactured by Milwaukee.

The machine has a brushed electric motor powered by an 18 volt M18 battery.

Milwaukee does not specify the maximum cutting depth for any materials like other manufacturers usually do. But with a sufficiently long saw blade and enough patience any jig saw can cut the same depth, the only difference is the speed and accuracy.

Milwaukee does not specify the weight of the machine on their website.

Exterior

The machine has a red plastic housing with large parts of it covered in black rubber. The front of the machine is made out of aluminium. The body has a bow handle with trigger switch positioned above the machine body.

An M18 battery is inserted by sliding it in from above at the back of the machine.

The base is made out of aluminium with a removable black plastic shoe on the underside that prevents scratching the work piece. At the front of the base a anti splinter guard can be inserted to reduce splinters. It has to be removed when making bevel cuts.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the black variable speed trigger switch on the underside of the handle.

Above the trigger is a lock button on each side that prevents the machine from activating. This machine has no lock on button.

Underneath the trigger is a lever that can be loosened to change the angle of the base up to 45º left or right. There are preset indents for 0, 15, 30 and 45º.

On the front of the machine is a lever to eject the saw blade without any tools.

On the side there is an orbital action selector switch with five settings for making faster, but rougher cuts in wood. According to the manual the lower orbital settings can also be used for other materials.
