Bosch Power screwdriver

A power screwdriver is a handheld tool used for driving screws. It is usually powered by a battery or can connect to an outlet with an power cord.

The tool usually has a pistol shaped body or cylindrical with a motor inside the handle.

Most screw drivers can turn in both directions. Some have variable speed and multiple gearings.

Some screwdrivers have a way to set the desired depth of the screw and a clutch to disengage when the screw reached the desired depth.

A variation of a power screwdriver is the auto feed screwdriver which has a magazine of screws that allows for driving many screws of the same type more quickly because the operator does not need to put the screw on manually.

A power screwdriver shares many similarities with a handheld drill but does not have an adjustable chuck. Practically all screw drivers accept 1/4 inch hex bits.

An impact driver is also used to drive in screws but is meant for bigger screws and does not have a clutch because it uses a hammering mechanism to drive in the screw in a controlled way.
