The GSR 12V-20 HX is a cordless screwdriver manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushless motor powered by a 12V Max battery. It is a variant of the GSR 12V-20 drill with a keyless chuck.

Because this machine has the motor and body of a drill it is significantly more powerful than many other electric screwdrivers that are only meant for driving screws. When using drill bits with a hex shank this machine can be used for drilling as well.

Exterior

The machine has a dark blue plastic housing with black rubberized parts mainly on the handle and back of the motor housing. The buttons and are red, like the Bosch logo on the side of the motor housing.

On the back of the motor housing is a screw hole in which an included metal belt clip and bit holder with space for four bits can be attached.

A 12V Max battery is inserted in the bottom of the handle. At the front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a battery charge indicator consisting out of three green LEDs. In front of it is a white LED that illuminates the working area. Behind it is a rotation reverse switch on both sides.

The motor housing has some ventilation slits near the back. At the front is a gray and black clutch adjustment ring and a 1/4" hex bit holder.

Operation

The machine is activated by pulling the red variable speed trigger switch. The turning direction can be reversed with the push switches on the side. The trigger is locked when the push switch is positioned between forward and reverse.

On top of the motor housing is a red slide switch to toggle between the low (1) and high (2) gears.

The clutch can be adjusted in 20 steps by turning the ring at the front. There is also a drill setting in which the clutch is disabled.

To remove the bit the sleeve around the bit holder has to be pulled back.
