GST 150 BCE bow handle jig saw

Corded electric tools Jig saw Sawing

The GST 150 BCE is a bow handle grip jig saw manufactured by Bosch. The GST 150 CE is just as powerful with similar features but has a bow handle shaped body.

The  machine is powered by a 780 watt brushed electric motor from an outlet. The machine has constant electronic speed control

The machine is the second most powerful jig saw in Bosch's product line up. Only the GST 160 BCE with an 800 watt motor is more powerful. Although the difference in power is small, the difference in price is significant. This is explained by difference in the saw blade guide mechanism which makes the GST 160 BCE better for deeper cuts where more precision is needed.

Exterior

The machine has a dark blue plastic housing with a a curved rubberized handle above the motor housing. On the front and back are ventilation slots to help keep the motor cool.

The base is made out of aluminium and can be tilted up to 45º by loosening a nut on the underside with an included hex key that is stored in the back of the base. On the underside there is a black plastic cover called a "glide shoe" that can be installed to prevent the work piece against scratching.

The included vacuum adapter slides into the base from behind.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the variable speed red trigger switch on the handle. Above it is a lock on switch on each side that can pressed in on either side after pressing the trigger to keep the machine running without holding the trigger.

The maximum stroke rate can also be set with red dial on the back of the handle.

For faster but rougher cuts in wood the orbital actions can be selected with the the black lever in the side. Behind it is a switch to toggle the blower function.

The saw blade can be ejected without any tools by pulling the red lever on the front. The lever is black in some models.
