GSR 12V-15 FC multi head drill

12V Max Cordless Drill Drilling & fastening Angle drill Multi head

The GSR 12V-15 FC is a cordless multi head drill manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushed electric motor that is powered by a 12V Max battery.

The machine is a variant of the GSR 12V-15 but has the letters "FC" added to its name which stand for "FlexiClick". Instead of a permanently attached keyless chuck it has a spindle that fits a 1/4" hex bit and a FlexiClick interface on which different heads can be attached.

Heads

The machine is often sold in a kit with four different heads, but sometimes also with just one, or as a bare tool without any. The machine can be used without any attachment as standard 1/4" fit in the spindle, but the bits are then only held in place by a magnet and can easily fall out.

The 1/4" hex attachment will only release bits when the sleeve is pushed in. There is also a 9 mm keyless chuck that allows the drill to use round drill bits like any other drill. An offset attachment for 1/4" hex bits allows working near the edges.

The fourth bit is a right angle attachment which also has a magnetic bit holder and another FlexiClick interface allowing any of the three other attachments to be connected to it.

Availability

In 2021 the GSR 12V-15 FC was still sold. In 2020 the GSR 12V-35 FC was introduced which is a slightly more powerful machine with a brushless motor and is expected to replace the GSR 12V-15 FC eventually.

Exterior

The machine has a dark blue plastic housing with black rubberized parts mainly on the handle and back of the motor housing. The buttons and are red, like the Bosch logo on the side of the motor housing.

A 12V max battery is inserted in the bottom of the handle. At the front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a battery charge indicator consisting out of three green LEDs. In front of it is a white LED that illuminates the working area. Behind it is a rotation reverse switch on both sides.

The motor housing has some ventilation slits near the back. At the front is a gray and black clutch adjustment ring and a keyless black plastic chuck with a steel front tip.

Operation

The machine is activated by pulling the red variable speed trigger switch. The turning direction can be reversed with the push switches on the side. The trigger is locked when the push switch is positioned between forward and reverse.

On top of the motor housing is a red slide switch to toggle between the low (1) and high (2) gears.

The clutch can be adjusted in 20 steps by turning the ring behind the chuck. There is also a drill setting in which the clutch is disabled.

The drill heads can be removed by twisting their collar and pulling them out. On the collar is a hole next to a lock icon. When twisting the color of the ring behind it indicates whether the attachment is locked or unlocked.

The right angle and offset attachment can also change change their position while attached by pulling them forward and then moving them to the desired position and letting them snap back.
