GSB 12V-35 hammer drill

The GSB 12V-35 is a cordless hammer drill manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

The machine has a brushless electric motor that is powered by a 12V Max battery.

The GSB 12V-35 is a variant of the GSR 12V-35 that adds a hammer mode making it faster for drilling in masonry like brick walls.

Although both are still available in 2021 this machine can be considered as the successor of the GSB 12V-15 which is slightly less powerful because it lacks a brushless motor.

In North America the same machine sold with the model name GSB12V-300(N).

Exterior

The machine has a dark blue plastic housing with black rubberized parts mainly on the handle and back of the motor housing. The buttons and are red, like the Bosch logo on the side of the motor housing.

On the back of the motor housing is a screw hole in which an included metal belt clip and bit holder with space for four bits can be attached.

A 12V Max battery is inserted in the bottom of the handle. At the front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a battery charge indicator consisting out of three green LEDs. In front of it is a white LED that illuminates the working area. Behind it is a rotation reverse switch on both sides.

The motor housing has some ventilation slits near the back.

In front of the motor housing is a work mode ring that has symbols for screw, drill and hammer. In front of that is a gray and black clutch adjustment ring and a keyless black plastic chuck with a steel front tip.

Operation

The machine is activated by pulling the red variable speed trigger switch. The turning direction can be reversed with the push switches on the side. The trigger is locked when the push switch is positioned between forward and reverse.

On top of the motor housing is a red slide switch to toggle between the low (1) and high (2) gears.

The work mode can be selected by turning the black ring so that the symbol lines up with the indicator. There is a hammer mode for drilling in masonry, a drill mode for drilling in other materials like metal and wood. The screwing mode will activate the clutch when too much resistance is encountered.

When screwing mode is selected the clutch can be adjusted in 20 steps by turning the ring behind the chuck.
