GAS 18V-LI handheld vacuum cleaner

The GAS 18V-LI is a handheld vacuum cleaner manufactured by Bosch. It is part of the 18 volt Bosch Professional product line.

The machine sucks in air using a fan that is connected to a brushed electric motor that is powered by an 18 volt battery.

The machine has a HEPA filter with a large surface area of 123 cm² to ensure good airflow even when sucking up extremely fine dust.

Availability

In January 2022 this vacuum was not listed on most of Bosch's regional websites but still found on an regional African website. In most countries it is no longer for sale but some online shops still seem to offer this vacuum.

Exterior

The machine has a dark blue plastic motor housing with a black rubberized handle in the back. An 18 volt battery slides in from behind under the handle. Behind the handle is a wrist strap attached to the machine.

On top, in front of the handle are two membrane push buttons to turn the vacuum on and off and toggle between high and low power mode.

In front of that is a white LED that is pointed towards the front to illuminate the working area.

The front half of the machine is a semitransparent plastic dust collection box which contains a cylindrical HEPA filter.

At the front is a round opening with a diameter of 32 mm in which attachments can be inserted and are held in place by friction.

The opening is angled so that the machine can also be used without an attachment and behind the opening is a flap that prevents collected dust and debris from falling out.

Operation

The machine is activated by pushing the power button once, and is turned off by pressing it again. The machine always starts in high power mode and can toggle between low and high power mode with the button in front of the power button.

The dust container can be detached by pressing the large black button on top of the machine. The filter has to be pulled out of the dust container to empty it. The filter itself can be replaced or removed for cleaning by twisting off the basket that holds it.
