The DCD780B is a cordless drill manufactured by DeWalt.

The machine has a brushless electric motor that is powered by a 20V MAX battery.

According to DeWalt the machine can drill holes up to 7/8" (22 mm) in wood with an auger bit and and 2" (50 mm) holes using a hole saw attachment.

Exterior

The machine body is made out of yellow plastic with the whole handle and front half of the machine being black.

DeWalt classifies this machine as a compact and lightweight drill/driver with a total length of 9.5" (241 mm).

On the bottom of the handle a 20V MAX battery attaches by sliding in from the front. A  metal belt clip can be attached on the left or right side.

On front of the handle is a black trigger switch with a black. Behind it it is a small "Made in the USA" sticker. Above that is a black push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

Above trigger at the front is a white LED that illuminates the working area. Above that is a clutch setting ring with 15 settings. At the front is a black keyless chuck with a maximum opening of 13 mm.

On top of the housing is a black gear selector switch.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring behind the chuck.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body.
