The DeWalt 20V MAX battery system is used for DeWalt power tools.

Most 20V MAX battery packs contain five 3.6 volt 18650 Lithium-Ion cells in series to produce 18 volt output. When fully charged the voltage can reach up to 20 volts. That is why this battery system, like some others is marketed as 20 volt but actually has a nominal rating of 18 volt.

Powerstack

In 2021 DeWalt was the first major power tool brand to introduce a battery that uses pouch cell batteries instead of cylindrical cells. These battery packs have a higher energy density making them lighter and smaller than other batteries of similar capacity. According to DeWalt they also have a longer lifespan. DeWalt refers to this style of batteries as "POWERSTACK". DeWalt received an innovation award from WOOD magazine in 2022.

Wireless connectivity

Some 20V MAX batteries have built in Bluetooth technology that allows them to connect to a mobile phone with DeWalt's ToolConnect app. These batteries have blue logo on their side.
