6846 auto feed screwdriver

The 6846 is an corded electric automatic screw feeding screw driver manufactured by Makita. It is powered by a 470 watt brushed electric motor.

This machine looks the same as the 6843 and is just as powerful but with lower maximum of 3000 RPM it is better suited for thicker screws in harder materials.

This machine is useful for quickly driving in a large amount of the same kind of screws. The screws that can be used have to be on plastic strips that are placed in the machine on the bottom. The screws can be 25 up to 55 mm long.

Exterior

The machine has a "Makita teal" colored plastic body with a rubberized grip on the back. The machine is activated with a black trigger switch Behind the trigger switch is a round black lock on button. When this button is pressed the machine will keep activating whenever the front is pressed against the work piece.

Above the lock on button is a black button to reverse the direction of rotation.

On the front of the machine is an aluminium screw driving and feeding mechanism of which the front part is spring loaded and slides back when pressed against a work piece while the screw comes out the front.

On the bottom of the machine there is metal belt clip which can be placed on either side.

Clutch

The machine has a silent clutch which can be adjusted with a black knob on the side. As a screw is driven in deeper it gives more resistance. The clutch will disengage the drive when a set amount of resistance is encountered so that the screw is not driven in too deep.
