HR2650 26mm combination hammer with dust collection

Corded electric tools Drilling & fastening Rotary hammer
This product was marked as discontinued in 2021.
It is replaced by the HR2652 26mm rotary hammer with dust collection.

The HR2650 is a corded rotary hammer with integrated dust collection manufactured by Makita. It has three operating modes making it a combination hammer.

The machine is powered by 800 watt brushed electric motor.

In 2021 the machine was marked as discontinued on Makita New Zealand's website. It was not listed on Makita USA's website.

Exterior

The machine has a plastic body in Makita's signature teal color with a mostly black front half.

The handle is located at the back of the machine with the power cord attached at the bottom and a small loop hole. There are rubberized parts ion the front, back and sides.

At the very front there is a black SDS Plus chuck with a rotatable auxiliary handle attached right behind it.

Dust extraction

On the underside of the body is a detachable dust collection unit with an aluminium telescoping extraction head that can extend up to 190 mm from the chuck and centers itself around the drilling hole. The telescopic arm also has a depth teal colored stop on it can replace the function of depth gauge on the handle when the dust extraction is used.

The machine has a ventilation inlet on the underside of the body and an outlet on top. A fan attached to the motor spins to allow cool air to pass through to prevent overheating.

The dust extraction unit connects to the inlet. The air will then pass through the dust extraction unit where dust is blocked on the underside of the HEPA filter and collected in a detachable transparent dust case.

Operation

The machine is activated with a variable speed trigger switch on the handle. Behind the trigger is a round lock on button to keep the machine running at full speed without needing to hold down the trigger.

Above the trigger switch is a switch that reverses the direction of rotation. Its position also suggests it changes the orientation of the carbon brushes for the same level of efficiency in both directions.

Towards the front on the side of the body there is a knob to switch between three operating modes. The knob has a small lock button on it to prevent unintended changing the mode.

There is a fourth setting marked with a dot which is allows the operator to adjust the rotation of the inserted bit.  This is useful before using the hammer only mode with chisel bits which need to be in a specific position.
