M9502R 115mm 570W angle grinder

The M9502R is an entry level corded angle grinder with slide switch manufactured by Makita.

In 2021 this machine was listed on Makita's websites for the United Kingdom and in a Romanian online store. It was not listed on the website for the USA or New Zealand.

The machine is powered by a 570 watt brushed electric motor.

Exterior

The body is made out of bright orange/red plastic with white text "Makita MT" printed on the side. Behind it is a round black cover that gives access to the carbon brushes. Right above it are some ventilation inlet holes.

The machine is activated with a black slide switch on top of the body while most other Makita grinders have it on the side. With most grinders it is possible to change the position of the switch by unscrewing the four screws in the front and putting the head and bodt back together turned 90 or 180 degrees but Makita does not mention it for this grinder.

The back part of the grinder body is black. For other makita grinders the back is often rubberized but Makita does not specify it for this grinder.

The front of the machine is the gear housing and is made out of aluminium. It has ventilation outlets on top and a black spindle lock button. There are threaded holes on each side to attach the side handle.

On the bottom of the gear housing is a 14 mm or 5/8" spindle. The disc is held in place with a lock nut for which a wrench is needed to loosen and tighten it.

Safety

The machine has a restart protection feature meaning that if the power is connected while the switch is in the on position it will not activate before the switch is first moved to the off position.
