The GB801 is a heavy duty bench grinder manufactured by Makita.

The machine is powered by brushed 550 Watt electric motor from an electrical outlet. According to Makita the motor is a split capacitor type which results in higher efficiency with reduces noise and vibration.

Availability

In December 2021 the GB801 could not be found on Makita USA's website, but was listed on their regional websites for New Zealand as discontinued.

The only bench grinder that Makita still offers is the GB602 which is significantly less powerful.

Exterior

The machine has a metal "Makita teal" colored motor housing with a grinding wheel on each side.

On the front is the Makita logo and model number with below that a large red switch that turns the machine on and off. The switch is protected by a transparent cover to keep dust and liquid out.

Each grinding wheel is surrounded by a black wheel cover which have an integrated work light. In front of each wheel is an adjustable tool rest where the work piece can be placed on. Each grinding wheel is also equipped with an eye shield, one of which has a magnifying feature.
