Corded electric tools Sawing Circular saw

The 5008MG is a corded electric circular saw manufactured by Makita. The machine is powered by 1800 watt brushed motor from an outlet.

It is similar to the 5007MG but can fit a larger saw blade and make deeper cuts.

Exterior

The machine has a plastic "Makita teal" colored body with black rubberized handles.

The base and blade guard are made out of magnesium. On the front of the base there are markings that indicate where the cut is at 0 and 45º.

Above the markings is a teal quick release lever to adjust the angle up to 50º. There is a round teal knob called "positive stopper" which can be set to 22.5º, 45º and 50º to set the angle precisely to these values.

Behind the angle adjustment (not visible in picture) is an two LEDs that illuminate the working area.

The motor housing has black round slotted covers that provide access to the motor brushes.

Operation

The machine is activated with a trigger switch on the handle and can then be pushed forward along the cut line.

The built in blower will activate at the same time for a clearer view of the cutting line.

The saw can tilt for bevel cuts up to 50º by using a quick release lever on front of the base.

Safety

The the edges of saw blade are guarded by a fixed magnesium blade cover on the top side.

The integrated light stays on while the saw is plugged in as a reminder that the machine is powered.

On the bottom the cover will automatically retract when pushed against the work piece and spring back in place when done.
