5104 260mm circular saw

The Makita 5104 is a electric corded circular saw manufactured by Makita.

The saw comes with a 260 mm blade, but according to the user manual it can also fit a 270 mm saw blade. The 5104S variant is almost same machine but with a soft start feature and comes with a 270 mm saw blade and can make a 5 mm deeper cut of 100 mm.

Exterior

The machine body is made out of "Makita teal" colored plastic and has a black handle on top. The motor housing has black round slotted covers that provide access to the motor brushes.

The base is made out of cast aluminium with wing black plastic nuts to adjust the angle and rip fence. The handle for the other hand is attached to the base

The saw blade is shielded with an aluminium cover on top with a built in dust ejection chute on the side. The manual states that an adapter called a "joint" is needed to attach a vacuum cleaner but it is unclear if this adapter is always included.

The bottom part of the saw blade is covered by a spring loaded retractable cover integrated lever to manually retract it.

Operation

To prevent unintended activation the trigger is blocked by a lock button on top of the handle. The lock button has to be pushed in before the trigger.
