LS1016 260mm slide compound miter saw

The LS1016 is corded electric slide compound miter saw manufactured by Makita.

It is powered by a 1510 watt brushed motor. Depending on the region it is sold in the cord has an appropriate power plug and voltage rating for 120 and 230 volt outlets.

It can cut up to 91 mm deep with a 260 mm saw blade. The saw blade can slide forward by pulling the handle to make cuts up to 279 mm long.

It is a compound saw meaning that it can do both mitre and bevel cuts. It has a mitre range of 60° right and 52° left and a bevel range of 45° right and left with positive stops at 225°, 339°, 45°

Exterior

The motor housing and handle are made out of "Makita teal" colored plastic. The handle is horizontal and is covered in black rubber for better grip.

The top part of the blade guard is made out of one piece that connects to the hinge and has an integrated handle for carrying the machine.

The bottom part of the saw blade is retractable and made out of blue transparent plastic.

On the back side there is a black dust bag, a vacuum can also be attached for dust extraction.

On both sides supports can slide out to help keep long work pieces in place. There is also a vertical vice to help clamp down the work piece.

The top part of the fence can extended on both side for better support of long (and thick) work pieces.

Operation

To activate the machine the lock button on top of the handle needs to be held down (with the thumb) while the trigger is being pushed (with the index finger).

At the front of the saw gutter there is a black handle that can be turned to adjust the mitre angle.
