2403-20 M12 drill

Cordless Drill Drilling & fastening M12 FUEL

The 2403-20 is a cordless electric drill driver manufactured by Milwaukee. It is part of their high performance FUEL product line.

It has a brushless electric motor powered by a 12 volt M12 battery. It is very similar to the 2503-02 and equally powerful, but is a little bigger and heavier.

The machine shares the same user manual with the 2402-20 screwdriver and 2404-20 hammer drill. The tools have the same motor and grip but the screw driver has a hex bit holder instead of a chuck and the hammer drill has an additional hammering mode.

Exterior

The machine has a plastic red body with black rubberized around the handle and back side.

The handle is placed in the middle of the body for better balance. An M12 battery is inserted in the bottom of the handle. This makes the machine more compact than similar tools where the battery is placed under the handle but also makes the handle wider.

On top of the handle is a black trigger switch with an LED light above it that illuminates the working area. Behind it is a push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

Behind it are four LEDs on the left side that act as a battery charge indicator. Milwaukee calls this the "fuel gauge".

The motor housing has some ventilation slits and a metal belt clip that can be placed on either side.

On top of the body is a gear selector slide switch.

At the front there is a large gray clutch adjustment ring with 18 settings. Behind it is a gray ring to select the work mode, one can choose drill or screw here. When drilling is selected the clutch is disabled.

At the front is a keyless chuck with a black plastic grip.

Operation

The machine is activated by pulling the black variable speed trigger switch. The turning direction can be reversed with the button behind it.

The gear selector on top can switch between low (400 RPM) and high (1700 RPM) gear.

The clutch can be adjusted with the clutch adjustment ring and disabled completely by selecting with the drill setting in the ring behind it.
