EY76A1X impact driver

18V Cordless Drilling & fastening Impact driver

The EY76A1 is a 18 volt cordless impact driver manufactured by Panasonic.

When sold without battery and charger the model is also referred to as "EY76A1X".

The machine has a brushless electric motor that can be powered by a 18 volt or 14.4 volt battery.

Panasonic does not state the weight of the machine without a battery, but with a 5.0 Ah battery attached the machine weighs 1.45 kg.

Exterior

The machine has a black and gray color scheme. It has a relatively short motor housing with the handle is placed in the middle under the motor for better tool balance.

The side of the motor housing has the brand logo "Panasonic" on it on gray. The logo is  surrounded by a black square pattern that imitates the look of woven carbon fiber in the 3K pattern, but this pattern is merely decorational and no actual carbon fiber is used in the body.

The battery slides in on in from the front under the handle and there is an optional metal belt hook attached to the side.

At the top of the handle, above the trigger are two white LEDs that illuminate the working area.

In front of the motor housing is the hammer case with a 1/4" hex bit holder which has a black sleeve around it.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the black variable speed trigger switch. Above it is a gray push button on each side to reverse the turning direction.

To release the bit the bit holder sleeve has to be pulled forward.

At the base of the handle is a push button to select the work mode.

Work modes

The machine has four different work modes with the last one called "dash mode" which according to Panasonic allows the machine to instantly reach full speed "for drilling wood without needing pilot holes or super fast driving without damaging screw heads."

  1. Low: 950 RPM / 1800 IPM / 26 Nm
  2. Medium: 1450 RPM / 2500 IPM / 150 Nm
  3. High: 2800 RPM / 3100 RPM / 170 Nm
  4. Dash mode: quickly go to full speed
