PABSP 20-Li A1 drill

The PABSP 20-Li A1 is a cordless drill distributed under the Parkside brand.

The machine has a brushless motor that is powered by a 20 volt battery with a nominal voltage of 18 volt.

The addition P to the PABS model name indicates that it is part of the Parkside performance label. This means that the machine is equipped with an efficient brushless electric motor and instead of a green body had a black body.

Battery compatibility

The battery has the same voltage as the Parkside X20V battery system but is not compatible with the X20V system due to a different physical shape. Besides the different shape the battery of the PABSP 20-Li A1 also has a charge indicator on the front.

The PABSP 20-Li B2 and PABSP 20-Li C2 which are be considered to the the replacements of this machine do use a X20V battery. The X20V batteries have it on the left side. With drills like this the belt clip will obstruct the charge indicator when attached on the left side of the machine.

Exterior

The machine has black plastic housing with black rubberized parts and gray and red accents.

On the bottom of the handle a X20V battery attaches by sliding in from the front. A black metal belt clip can be attached on the left or right side. Above the battery is a white LED that illuminates the working area.

On the back side on the bottom of the handle is an integrated magnetic bit holder.

On front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a black rubberized front. Above it is a red push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

On top of the housing is a red gear selector switch.

At the front is clutch setting ring with 21 settings plus a drill setting that disables the clutch. At the front is a black metal chuck with a maximum opening of 13 mm.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring behind the chuck.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body.
