PABS 12 B3 cordless drill

Drilling & fastening Drill Cordless X12V
This product was marked as discontinued.

The PABS 12 B3 is a cordless drill distributed under the Parkside brand.

The machine has a brushed electric motor that is powered by a Parkside 12 volt battery.

The weight of the machine was not found online or in the user manual. In a Youtube video the machine is weighed with the battery inserted and weighs 1057 grams.

This machine has the same specifications and appearance as the PABS 12 B2. A video comparing the two drills that is linked to on the bottom of the page notes that the rubberized parts of the handle have more bumpy texture on the B3 version.

On the product page of the German distributor Kompernaß the page of the B3 shows a picture of a machine that has B2 printed on the side of the handle. That same picture is used here.

Availability

In 2021 the machine was listed on the German distributor's website but had no price information. It was not found in any of the online Lidl shops. For that reason it is marked as discontinued here.

Exterior

The machine has a dark green plastic housing with black rubberized parts around the handle and back.

The PABS 12 B3 has a very bumpy exterior with thick black rubber bulges all over giving it a very rugged appearance.

On the bottom of the handle a 12 volt battery is inserted.

On front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a black rubberized front. Above it is a push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

On the left side of the housing is an integrated magnetic bit holder. Below that is a row of three LEDs that act as a battery charge indicator. On top of the housing is a red gear selector switch.

At the front is clutch setting ring with 19 settings plus a drill setting that disables the clutch. At the front is a black plastic chuck with a maximum opening of 10 mm.

Just below the clutch adjustment ring is a white LED that illuminates the working area.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring behind the chuck.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body while it is not turning.
