DeWalt 8V MAX battery system

0 products

The DeWalt 8V MAX battery system is used for DeWalt power tools.

The battery packs contain two 3.6 volt 18650 Lithium-Ion cells in series to produce 7.2 volt output. When fully charged the voltage can reach up to 8 volts. That is why this battery system is marketed as 8 volts but actually has a nominal rating of 7.2 volt.

DeWalt 12V MAX batteries are "push in" style batteries. This means that they usually are inserted in the handle of the tool body. This allow the tool to remain compact but put some constraints on the minimum size of the handle. Since the battery packs only contain two 1850 cells they are small enough that this is no concern.

Due to the limited power that 8V MAX batteries can deliver there are not that many tools using this type of battery. The most common tool for this battery system are power screwdrivers for small screws.
