GWS 12V-76 compact angle grinder
The GWS 12V-76 is a compact cordless angle grinder manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.
The machine has a brushless electric motor that is powered by a 12V Max battery.
When introduced in 2016 it was the first light weight, cordless angle grinder on the market. However now other manufacturers like Milwaukee now have similar tools in their line up.
Availability
This product was previously available under the name GWB 10.8V-LI but was renamed in 2017 to its current name.
In 2021 this product was not listed on Bosch USA's website. It was listed on other regional websites.
Exterior
The machine has a dark blue plastic body consisting out of a handle and a motor housing positioned at a 90º angle on top of it. Large parts of the body are covered in black rubber for improved grip.
On the bottom of the handle a 12V Max battery is inserted. On the front of the handle is a battery charge indicator consisting out of three green LEDs and a red LED that acts as an temperature/overload warning indicator.
On the back, near the top of the handle is a red slide switch to activate the machine.
The motor housing is very compact because the brushless motor does not need a gearbox. It has red spindle lock lever at the front and an removable and a metal adjustable wheel guard around the cutting wheel.
A black plastic cover can be fitted around the wheel guard for better protection while cutting, but can be removed while grinding.
Operation
The machine is activated by pushing the red slide switch forward. The switch can be locked into place by pushing the front down. The switch is spring loaded to turn off with very little effort by letting it go or pushing the back part slightly when it is locked on.
The wheel guard is held in place by friction can can be moved around without any tools.
To replace the disc the spindle lock has to activated by pulling the red lever behind the wheel guard. An M5 hex key is then needed to loosen and tighten the bolt that holds the wheel in place.
