GSA 12V-14 recipro saw

The GKS 12V-14 is a cordless handheld reciprocating saw manufactured by Bosch as part of the Bosch Professional product line.

Bosch markets this saw as their most compact reciprocating saw. It is the first and only reciprocating saw in the 12V Max battery system.

Exterior

The machine has a blue plastic body with black rubber for improved grip and protection against bumps.

On the back of the machine is an almost horizontal handle in which a 12V Max battery is inserted at the bottom.

On the underside of the handle is a red trigger switch. Above it is is a red trigger lock  button on each side. In front of the trigger on the left side is a battery charge indicator consisting out of two green LEDs and a red LED that acts as an overload indicator below it.

To motor is positioned at a sloped angle in the middle of the machine. The housing has ventilation slits around the motor to help keep it cool.

At the front of the housing is a flared rubber bumper to protect the operator's hand from the moving saw blade. It also contains a white LED that illuminates the working area.

Attached to the front of the machine is the blade chuck which is surrounded by a gray aluminium shoe that is fixed in place.

Operation

The machine is activated by pressing the trigger lock button on either side and pulling the variable speed trigger.

The blade can be changed without any tools. Bosch calls this a SDS system, but it is unrelated to SDS chucks used for rotary hammers.
