HR2630 26mm combination hammer SDS Plus

Corded electric tools Drilling & fastening Rotary hammer
This product was marked as discontinued in 2020.
It is replaced by the HR2650 26mm combination hammer with dust collection.

The HR2630 is a corded rotary hammer manufactured by Makita. It has three operating modes making it a combination hammer.

The machine is powered by 800 watt brushed electric motor.

In 2020 the machine was marked as discontinued on Makita New Zealand's website. It was not listed on Makita USA's website.

Exterior

The machine has a plastic body in Makita's signature teal color with a mostly black front half.

The handle is located at the back of the machine with the power cord attached at the bottom and a small loop hole. There are rubberized parts ion the front, back and sides.

At the very front there is a black SDS Plus chuck with a rotatable auxiliary handle attached right behind it. On the handle is an depth gauge which can be adjusted with a teal button.

Operation

The machine is activated with large variable speed black trigger switch which is large enough for two fingers.

Behind the trigger is a round black lock on switch to lock the trigger in place without having to keep pushing it.

Above the trigger switch is a switch that reverses the direction of rotation. Its position also suggests it changes the orientation of the carbon brushes for the same level of efficiency in both directions.

Towards the front on the underside of the body there is a knob to switch between three operating modes. According to Makita this position reduces the risk of damaging the knob.

Safety

According to Makita's website the machine has some form of dust collection and an SDS PLUS shank torque limiter, but it is not specified what this means.
