Angle grinder Corded electric tools Grinding

The Makita 9565CVR is a variable speed angle grinder manufactured by Makita. is the successor of the 9565CV. The only difference between the two is the addition of the restart protection.

Availability

Although introduced in 2017 in 2021 it was not listed on Makita USA's website or many other country specific websites while its predecessor the 9565CV was.

Exterior

The body is barrel shaped with black rubber on the back and ventilation inlets on the sides. The RPM can be set with a speed selection dial on the back under the power cord.

The middle part is Makita teal colored plastic. The front of the machine is the gear housing and is made out of aluminium. It has ventilation outlets on top and a black spindle lock button.

The gear housing can be unscrewed from the body and attached in four different positions.

The RPM is electronically controlled so that it remains constant even when more resistance is encountered by pushing the disc on the work piece.

On the bottom of the gear housing is a 14 mm spindle or 5/8" in countries where that is more common. The disc is held in place with a lock nut for which a wrench is needed to loosen and tighten it.

Safety

The grinder has a soft start feature. The "R" at the end of the name indicates it has a restart protection feature that prevents the machine from turning on when the power is connected with the switch in the "on" position. It will only activate after the switch has first been moved to the "off" position.

Inside the gear housing is a mechanical clutch that Makita calls SJS (Super Joint System) that disconnects the gears when too much force is applied to protect the motor and gears from damage.

The machine also has a soft start feature that prevents kickback when turning it on.
