9565PC 125mm 1400W paddle switch angle grinder

Angle grinder Corded electric tools Grinding

The 9565PC is a corded angle grinder with paddle switch manufactured by Makita.

The machine is powered by a 1400 watt brushed electric motor. Depending on the region it is sold in the cord has an appropriate power plug and voltage rating for 120 and 230 volt outlets.

It is more powerful than the 1100 watt 9565P and has a "Constant speed" feature meaning that the machine will increase its power output to maintain its maximum RPM when more resistance is encountered that would otherwise slow it down.

Exterior

The body is barrel shaped with black rubber on the back and ventilation inlets on the sides. The RPM can be set with a speed selection dial on the back under the power cord.

On the bottom side there is a large black paddle switch which need to be pressed in to activate the machine.

The middle part is Makita teal colored plastic. The front of the machine is the gear housing and is made out of aluminium. It has ventilation outlets on top and a black spindle lock button.

At the very front there is an indented arrow that indicates the turning direction. There are threaded holes on each side to attach the side handle.

On the bottom of the gear housing is a 14 mm spindle or 5/8" in regions where that is more common. The disc is held in place with a lock nut for which a wrench is needed to loosen and tighten it.

Safety

Inside the gear housing is a mechanical clutch that Makita calls SJS (Super Joint System) that disconnects the gears when too much force is applied to protect the motor and gears from damage.

The machine has a soft start and anti restart protection which is a safety feature that prevents the machine from turning on unexpected when power is connected while the switch pressed. The machine will not start until the switch is first released.
