18-36 multivolt Cordless Drill Drilling & fastening

The DS18DBL2Q4 is a 18 volt cordless drill sold in the USA under the Metabo HTP brand.

The tool has brushless electric motor powered powered by a 18 or 18/36 multivolt battery.

The "Q4" suffix in the model name indicates that it is sold as a bare tool without battery and charger.

Exterior

The machine has a green plastic body with black rubberized parts around the motor housing that acts as bumpers and around the handle for improved grip.

On the bottom of the handle the battery slides in from the front.There is a detachable metal belt clip and there is a white LED that shines up to illuminate the working area. Behind the LED is a battery charge indicator.

On the handle is a black variable speed trigger switch with a rotation direction button above it.

Above the handle is the motor housing with a gear selection slide switch on top.

In front of the motor housing, above the trigger is a small aluminium gear housing. On top there is a plastic lid covering a threaded hole where the side handle can be screwed in on both sides.

In front of the gear housing is a large black clutch adjustment ring with 22 settings and a drill setting (clutch disabled).

At the very front is an all metal keyless chuck with a maximum diameter of 13mm.

Operation

The machine is activated with the variable speed trigger switch on the handle. The turning direction can be reversed with the push buttons above it on each side.

The operator can select a low or high gearing with a slide switch on top. The clutch sensitivity can be adjusted with the ring behind the chuck. When using high torque (low gear, high clutch) the side handle can be screwed in for better control.
