18-36 multivolt Cordless Jig saw Sawing

The CJ18DDAQ4 is a cordless bow handle jig saw sold in the USA under the Metabo HTP brand.

The saw has by an electric motor powered by a 18 or 18/36 multivolt battery. It is not specified on Metabo HTP's website if the motor is brushed or brushless.

The "Q4" suffix in the model name indicates that it is sold as a bare tool without battery and charger.

The machine has a built in dust blower that is always on, there is no option for dust extraction.

Exterior

The body is a D-handle type shape made out of green plastic with a black top side of the handle. The underside of the body and base are made out of aluminium.

The battery is inserted at the back of the handle. The tool can stand upright on the battery. A battery charge indicator with button is located in front of the underside of the handle.

On the front is a gray lever that can be pulled to eject the saw blade without needing any tools. Under it is a detachable clear plastic chip cover. There is a built in LED that illuminates the cutting area.

The base can be tilted up to 45º with a hex key that is stored on the base.

There is no built in blower or dust collection but an optional dust collection adapter exists.

Operation

The machine is activated with the black variable speed trigger switch on the underside of the handle.

Above the trigger it is a black lock switch that can be pushed in to prevent the trigger from being pressed.

For making faster but rougher cuts in wood up to three orbital actions can be set with a black knob on the side.
