18V Cordless Recipro saw Sawing

The AY47A1 is a handheld cordless reciprocating saw manufactured by Panasonic.

When sold without battery and charger the model is also referred to as "AY47A1X".

The machine has a folding body allowing it to be used in places where a regular reciprocating saw with a fixed body cannot fit.

The machine has a brushless electric motor that can be powered by a 18 volt or 14.4 volt battery. With a 14.4 volt battery the maximum number of strokes per minute is reduced to 3000.

The stated weight of 1.8 kilo is of the tool with one 18V 3.0 Ah battery inserted.

Exterior

The body of the machine is all black. A battery slides in under the handle from the front.

The handle has a black trigger switch with a grey trigger lock button behind it.

Above the handle is a hinge which is indexed at four angles. At the lowest setting the saw faces almost completely forward like shown in the picture. At the highest setting the saw faces upward.

The top/front part of the body houses the motor and has some vertical ventilation slits near the front with the "Panasonic" logo printed behind it. A large part of the top is covered in rubber for better grip when held with two hands.

At the front is an adjustable shoe, the saw blade can be removed without tools and there is an LED to illuminate the working area.
