PSBSA 18-Li A1 hammer drill

Cordless Drilling & fastening Hammer drill X20V
This product was marked as discontinued in 2021.
It is replaced by the PSBSA 18-Li B2 hammer drill.

The PSBSA 18-Li A1 is a cordless hammer drill distributed under the Parkside brand.

The machine has a brushed electric motor that is powered by an 18 volt battery.

This machine was introduced before Parkside's 18 volt battery system was renamed to X20V. It is likely that this machine is also compatible with X20V batteries.

The machine has similar power and appearance as the PABS 20 Li A1 which is a regular drill without the hammering mechanism.

The user manual sates that the machine can drill holes up to 15 mm in diameter in bricks. It does not specify a maximum diameter for concrete, as this machine is not a rotary hammerPSBSA-18-Li-B2 and not suitable for drilling in concrete.

The weight of the machine was not found online or in the user manual. There is also no high resolution image available.

Availability

In 2022 the machine was listed on the German distributor's website but had no price information. It was not found in any of the online Lidl shops. For that reason it is marked as discontinued here.

Exterior

The machine has a sleek curved dark green plastic housing with black rubberized parts around the handle and back.

On the bottom of the handle a 18 volt or X20V battery attaches by sliding in from the front. On the left side there is an integrated bit holder.

On front of the handle is a red trigger switch with a black rubberized front. Above it is a push button to reverse the direction of rotation on each side.

In front of the red button is a threaded hole on each side where an auxiliary handle can be attached.

On top of the housing is a red gear selector switch.

At the front is clutch setting ring with 20 settings plus a drill and hammer setting that disable the clutch. At the front is a black plastic chuck with a maximum opening of 13 mm.

Just below the clutch adjustment ring is a white LED that illuminates the working area.

Operation

The machine works as a standard drill. It is activated by pressing the variable speed trigger switch. The push button above it can be used to reverse the turning direction or as a trigger lock when the button is centered.

The resistance of the clutch is adjusted with the ring behind the chuck. The drill or hammer mode can be selected by turning the ring further so that the indicator triangle is aligned with the drill or hammer symbol.

The gear can be selected with the sliding switch on top of the body while it is not turning.
