GBA 12V 2.5Ah W Wireless charging battery

The GBA 12V 2.5 Ah W is Lithium Ion battery pack for the 12V Max battery system manufactured by Bosch.

This is the first and so far only battery in the 12V Max system that supports wireless charging.

Because it was introduced earlier it has a lower capacity than the GBA 12V 3.0 Ah battery while being significantly heavier and bulkier due to the wireless charging system. At 420 grams the battery is even heavier than the GBA 12V 6.0 Ah battery that weighs 385 grams.

Based on the size and weight of the battery pack it could contain six cells; meaning that the pack contains six 1.3 Ah cells, but no information about the internals of this pack is available on the internet.

Charging

The base of the battery can be charged using induction with a coil in the bottom of the battery. A wireless charger that contains a similar coil is needed to charge it.

The battery can remain inserted in the tool while charging which eliminates the time spent changing batteries and allows a single battery to be used continuously if the tool is placed on the charger between use.

The battery can also be charger using a regular wired 12V Max charger when removed from the tool.

Exterior

The top part of the battery pack has a black plastic casing with recessed electrical contacts on top. The bottom part has latches on both sides to retain the battery when inserted in a tool.

Below the upright part is a rounded rectangular base that contains the induction charging coil.

On the side of the base the text "Bosch 12V 2.0 Ah Li-Ion Wireless Charging" is printed.
