GAL 12V-40 fast battery charger
The GAL 12V-40 is a fast battery charger in the Bosch Professional product range. The charger has a maximum charging current of 4 Ampere.
To provide an balance between fast charging time and limiting wear on batteries the charger uses a dual charging mode where it will quickly charge a battery to 80% capacity and then charge the remaining 20% at a lower current.

Availability
In December 2021 this was the only charger for 12V batteries on Bosch UK's website.
Compatibility
The charger is meant for Bosch Professional 12V Max batteries, but also officially supports the older 10.8 volt batteries which have the same voltage but a different name.
The charger will also charge 10.8V and 12V batteries from other brands that fit as explained in the compatibility section on the 12V Max category page.
Exterior
The charger has a rectangular black plastic housing. The front half is sloped towards the front. The power cord is permanently attached on the back can be wrapped around the rear half and is kept in place by some cable guides near the back.
Near the front is a receptacle for a single battery that is inserted upside down. There is a red warning LED on the left and a green charging LED on the right.
It is possible to mount the charger on a wall with screws using screw mounts on the bottom, where there are also ventilation slits in the housing.
