HR2631FT 26mm rotary hammer SDS Plus

The HR2631FT is a corded rotary hammer manufactured by Makita. It has three operating modes making it a combination hammer. It is a variation of the HR2631F with a tool less detachable chuck.

The machine is powered by 800 watt brushed electric motor.

In 2020 the machine was marked as discontinued on Makita New Zealand's website.

Exterior

The exterior is similar to the HR2630 but has the marking "AVT" on the side and a different chuck.

The machine has a plastic body in Makita's signature teal color with a mostly black front half.

The handle is located at the back of the machine with the power cord attached at the bottom and a small loop hole. There are rubberized parts on the front, back and sides.

On the bottom of the handle is a white LED that illuminates the working area.

At the very front there is a black SDS Plus chuck which is a bit longer than usual by sliding the collar it can be removed and swapped out with a keyless chuck.

Behind the chuck is a rotatable auxiliary handle. On the handle is an depth gauge which can be adjusted with a teal button.

Vibration reduction

The marking "AVT" on the side stands for "Anti Vibration Technology" which is a Makita trademarked name for a feature that reduces machine vibrations. In this case it means that for every impact a counter weight inside the machine moves in the opposite direction to reduce the vibrations of the machine that the operator is exposed to.
