CJ36DAQ4 36V cordless bow handle jig saw

18-36 multivolt Cordless Jig saw Sawing

The CJ36DAQ4 is a cordless bow handle jig saw sold in the USA under the Metabo HTP brand.

The saw has brushless electric motor powered by a 36 volt battery or the Multivolt AC-adapter.

The "Q4" suffix in the model name indicates that it is sold as a bare tool without battery and charger.

Exterior

The body is a D-handle type made green plastic with soft black green rubberized top and handle. The underside of the body and base are made out of aluminium.

The battery is inserted at the back of the handle. The tool can stand upright on the battery.

On the front is a gray lever that can be pulled to eject the saw blade without needing any tools. Under it is a detachable semi transparent plastic chip cover.

The base can be tilted up to 45º with a hex key that is stored on the base.

Operation

The machine is activated with the black variable speed trigger switch on the underside of the handle. The maximum number of strokes per minute can be set with a dial at the front.

Above the trigger there are two black buttons. Metabo HTP's website states that the oval one is a "lock on" switch and does not specify the function of the round one. No online user manual is available. However with other Metabo HTP saws the oval button is a trigger lock button to prevent the trigger from being pressed and in other tools a round button behind the trigger is usually a lock on button to keep the machine running without having to hold the trigger down.

For making faster but rougher cuts in wood up to three orbital actions can be set with a black knob on the side. Metabo HTP's website states there are four stages, but the first one is for no orbital actions that is why three is listed here.
