18-36 multivolt Cordless Recipro saw Sawing

The CR36DAQ4 is a cordless reciprocating saw sold in the USA under the Metabo HTP brand.

The saw has a brushless motor powered by a 36 volt battery or the Multivolt AC-adapter.

The saw has four selectable speeds:

  • Low: 0 - 1700 SPM
  • Medium: 0 - 2000 SPM
  • High: 0 - 2500 SPM
  • Max: 0 -3000 SPM

The "Q4" suffix in the model name indicates that it is sold as a bare tool without battery and charger.

Exterior

The machine has a green D-handle shaped body with black rubberized around the front and handle. The battery is placed under the handle.

On the right side (not visible in picture) there is a metal hook that folds that can be used to hang the saw on.

On the left side there are white letters "UVP" which stands for "User Vibration Protection"  which means that there is a counterweight inside that reduces the vibrations of the machine body.

Operation

The machine is activated with a variable speed black trigger switch on the handle. There is a trigger lock button above it that needs to be pressed in on the left side to unlock the trigger and pressed in on the other side to lock it.

In front of the handle is a switch to toggle the build in LED light and to switch the speeds setting.

On the left side of the body is a green lever to enable orbital actions for faster rough cuts.

Near the front on the bottom is a lever that can be pulled down to to adjust the shoe at the front.

The saw blade can be changed without any tools by turning the blade holder.
